If Your Power Goes Out

The goal of VEC is to restore your power quickly and safely.

Our crews are experts in getting the power back on. As soon as a crew arrives on the scene, it will assess the problem and begin the repair process.

Make sure we know your power is out.

To report an outage, or to receive outage information or restoration estimates, call Vermont Electric Cooperative at 1-800-832-2667 and be prepared to provide the following;
  • The name on the account that is out
  • Your account number (if you know it); E911 address
  • The nature of the outage (Power is out; how long it has been out; anything you have seen)
  • A telephone number where you can be contacted

Stay safe.

  • Keep away from downed power lines and debris that is resting on a power line. Report the location to us immediately.
  • Check on elderly neighbors or relatives.
  • Turn off major appliances to help avoid a sudden surge of power when service is restored.
  • Use caution if traffic lights and railroad crossing signals are not operating.

Be prepared.

  • Have an Outage Kit that you keep in an accessible location.
  • If a member of your household is dependent on electricity for life support, make sure you have backup-power or a temporary relocation plan.

Please be patient.

Especially during weather-related outages, damage can be widespread and repairs may be complex. Our crews focus on restoring the largest groups of affected customers first. They will always do their utmost to restore your power in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
